Isn't it funny how your kids can so easily scamper off and play like angels after just thirty short minutes of team chores with mom? Grateful for this realization; I will have to put this to good use on hot summer afternoons when I don't want to serve any more snacks or settle another dispute for the day...they become amazingly self-sufficient when they know chores still remain for mom as they scurry off to their next adventure :)
Some of our adventures this week:
hunting food for our "pet" praying mantis, swimming with cousins,
riding the jet boat and catching bass with Uncle Danno, tubing on the Snake Lake (the confluence:) for the first time, cutting a fort out of the ivy in the backyard, fighting wild blackberry bushes with scratches to show for it and raspberry picking at great-grandma's house to name a few :)
Oh, and is there anything better than a good friend and some killer boots with your favorite jumper? :) You can never be too prepared when you're going to feed the ducks! Gotta love summertime...
